Kris Wheeler, MA, completed a Masters in Counseling Psychology in 1986 from Antioch University Seattle. She began providing intensive family reconciliation via home-based services through a community mental health organization. She also began a private practice which soon became her full-time work.

Kris served on the faculty of Antioch University Seattle for 20 years and also offered classes through the Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Study (NWAPS) and Center for Object Relations (COR). Her interest in psychoanalysis led to intensive study through Northwestern Psychoanalytic Society and Institute in the mid 90s and 2000s. Kris served on the boards of both NWAPS and COR over the course of more than twenty years including chairing publications committee and presiding as president of NWAPS and chairing the Education Committee for COR. She currently oversees the Infant Observation Seminar offerings for COR and The Seattle School for Theology and Psychology.

Kris’ first career was in dance. She is a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique and taught in the University of Washington’s Dance Department in the 80s. She performed with the American Contemporary Dance Company, the performance company directed by Joan Skinner, and was soloist and co-director of Robert Davidson Dance Company. Her involvement in dance continues, meeting weekly with a group who practices Contemplative Dance Practice as developed by Barbara Dilley and Trungpa Rinpoche.

Kris lives in Seattle. She and her husband are enthusiastic grandparents.
