We make good care better

"At the center of medicine there is always a human relationship between a patient and a doctor."
Michael Balint

Terri Wall, PhD
ABS Secretary
2025-2027

Terri grew up in Jacksonville, Florida where she met and married her high school sweetheart. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Florida and completed a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Penn State University. Terri joined the faculty at St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency program in 2009, becoming the Director of Behavioral Health in 2011, and Assistant Program Director in 2025. Before joining the faculty at St. Vincent's FMRP, she spent 5 years as a visiting professor at the University of North Florida teaching in the Counseling Psychology master’s program and 12 years in private practice.

Terri was first introduced to Balint groups when she was a Fellow in the Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educators Fellowship sponsored by STFM. She was very excited to find a way to offer support to family medicine residents that incorporated her interest in group dynamics with more structure than a typical support group. After completing the BFEF Fellowship, Terri attended her first Intensive in Boston 2017, completed the Balint Leadership Fellowship in 2019, and completed the credentialing process in 2023. Terri has served on the committee for the Balint Group Leader Education Fellowship 2020-2024, was co-chair of the Diversity Committee 2024-2025, and served as council member for two terms from 2021-2025. She will continue serving as a member of the Diversity committee and is looking forward to serving on the council as Secretary.

Terri and her husband moved back to Jacksonville in 1998 so that they could raise their four (now adult) children near family. In her spare time, Terri is an avid reader, plays mixed doubles tennis, and enjoys many textile hobbies. She is most content when walking on the beach with her husband and fur babies.
